How to submit an abstract, present at SMDS-XIV, and register for the summit.
The summit is open to scientists, academicians, researchers, extension personnel, industry professionals, policymakers, and postgraduate and budding scientists working on sustainable development of the Himalayas.
Interested persons under the above categories from Nepal and Bhutan are encouraged to register.
For Themes I to V (Theme I: Ecological Security & Climate-Resilient Mountains; Theme II: Land, Infrastructure & Ecological Carrying Capacity; Theme III: Responsible Tourism & Mountain Economy; Theme IV: Mountain Communities, Livelihoods & Natural Capital; Theme V: Science, Governance & Policy for the Mountains), abstract submissions are invited from eminent scientists, policymakers, lead strategists, industry professionals, academicians and practitioners working on sustainable mountain development. Besides, research scholars, postgraduate students and budding/early-career scientists, with a focus on science, governance, policy, geospatial monitoring, vulnerability assessment, institutional mechanisms and evidence-based pathways for sustainable mountain development are also encouraged to submit abstracts and participate in the summit.
Abstracts must clearly specify what to do, who will do it, where it will be done, and the timelines involved — maximum 500 words. Prepare in MS Word using Times New Roman, 12-point font, single spacing (use the template provided below) and submit to the Organising Secretary by 1 September 2026. Accepted abstracts/papers will be published in the book of abstracts, and selected authors may be invited for presentation. Interested participants are also requested to visit the website www.smdsummit2026.in for further updates about the summit.
